An ultra rare, Top Quality EXTRA LARGE Edestus heinrichi shark whorl section with 3 big crowns, from Herrin, Illinois. An April Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Excellent preservation and serrations. Note - extra long root whorl section with 3 extra large crowns - very rare. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. Note - Two crown tips were professionally retored. Authenticity guaranteed. A Top Quality, Triceratops horridus brow horn section from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. A November Fossil of the Month. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek Formation. This is a special horn with exceptional detail preserved with excellent color and natural patina. A rare Top Quality Triceratops horridus caudal vertebra from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. A November Fossil of the Month. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation which is known for three horns and a large frill protecting its neck. This is a caudal (tail) vertebra with exceptional detail preserved with great color and patina. You can see the vertebra surface is very rugous and the vertebra is very thick with a very round centra which are characteristics of Triceratops and distinguishes it from a Hadrosaur. Triceratops bones are more difficult to find. Please note that the left transverse porcess and the spinous process were professionally restored. This is now specimen compete. It is extremely rare to find vertebra that are complete. Legally collected on private land in Powder River Co., Montana. It comes with the custom steel stand as shown. This whorl is incredible teeth detail - the first 5 crowns are all natural and the the last two have some top repair. One of the finest whorls that I have had. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. An Ultra Rare, Extra Large Pappocetus lugardi (Andrews, 1920) jaw section with 3 complete molars from Morocco. Pappocetus was in the Protocetidae family of ancient whales. Note – the molars demonstrate how massive Pappocetus teeth compared to the later primitive whales!  The root thickness doubles on one side and the crown gains depth as well. This material is a new find and represents one of the earliest transition forms of the whale. Pappocetus is a protocetid (see discussion below) and a large amphibious aquatic carnivore. Pappocetus is also an ancestor of the Basilosaurus.. This material is complete and without repair. Crack fill only on some pieces. This is an opportunity to own an incredibly rare specimen from an early evolutionary stage of the modern whale. A fantastic collector's specimen. Authenticity guaranteed.

An EXTRA LARGE, Colorful, Top Quality Megalodon - upper jaw anterior tooth from West Java, Indonesia. This Megalodon has a tan colored crown with a GOLDEN tan  colored bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Fantastic color!  The bourlette is complete. The serrations are razor sharp with a razor sharp tip serration. Excellent serrations with one strange area. As seen on the left side of  photo #1, the serrations are short and each serration is perfectly rounded. This area appears to be a natural wear facet from striking an opposing tooth. extremely uncommon in sharks. Very strange. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek and Lance Creek formations which is know for three horns and a large frill protecting its neck. This juvenile upper beak has exceptional detail preserved and great color / patina. Complete specimen. Note - Triceratops has a beak formed by this upper rostal bone and the lower predentary bone.
