    A 6" GEM Megalodon tooth - upper jaw PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth from northern Peru. The crown has an incredible light tan colored enamel with tan root and bourlette. Highest quality enamel. The bourlette is a light pink color wit some missing. The serrations are extra large and 100% complete including an incredible;"needle-like" tip serration. Peruvian Megs have some of the largest and most well preserved serrations. Fantastic. The root is very nicely articulated and complete. The root also has the small grooves on the root ends. Definitely a Miocene age Megalodon tooth. It will rival the absolute best from Bone Valley and Lee Creek. Excellent color. Incredible condition. No Repair or Restoration. MUSEUM QUALITY.     A Top Quality, 4-1/2" Classic Peruvian Early Megalodon tooth. Our 2nd February 2017 Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon has an incredible tan colored crown with an excellent tan bourlette. Highest quality enamel. The bourlette is excellent and essentially complete. The serrations are extra large and razor sharp with an excellent tip serration. The root is an excellent reddish brown color and complete. This Megalodon was found in the Ocucate area of Peru (Miocene age). Note -  the "root ears"on the root, root wing grooves, the exceptionally large serrations, and Chubutensis-like humps at the base of the serrations - all Miocene traits. This tooth was found in the Pungo River Formation (middle Miocene age). Note that the crown exhibits small cusplike bumps at the base of the serrated edge and the root ends also show grooves where the teeth interlocked. These are characteristic traits of the Lee Creek early Meg - C. chubutensis. A gorgeous light tan colored crown with an excellent tan bourlette. The bourlette is 100% complete. No enamel peel.
