This Megalodon tooth has an incredible light tan colored crown with an excellent brown bourlette. Highest quality enamel with essentially no hydration cracks! Exceptional color. The serrations are large and razor sharp with an excellent tip serration. Fantastic serrations for a BIG Meg! The root is exceptional - an excellent tan color, essentially no hydration cracks, and absolutely complete. The finest root that I have seen on a BIG Megalodon tooth. This Megalodon was found in the Yorktown Formation, Lee Creek mine, NC (Pliocene age = 5 MYA). Rarely do you see a 6" Lee Creek Megalodon tooth and rarely are they high quality. This tooth is from an old collection. One of the finest examples of a 6"+ classic upper jaw anterior Lee Creek Megs considering the shape, color, and preservation. Another August 2018 Fossil of the Month offering. This Megalodon tooth has an incredible light creamy tan colored crown with interesting deep peach colors and light charcoal gray patterning. Highest quality enamel with no hydration cracks. Exceptional color! The bourlette is large and perfect. The serrations are razor sharp with an exceptional big tip serration. PERFECT serrations which is exceptional for a big Meg! The root is an excellent creamy golden tan color with no hydration cracks. A very wide root. Note - there is a small area at the base of the right root lobe which was cut and rebuilt. Otherwise, a perfect tooth. This Megalodon was found in a limestone quarry in the Caribbean (Miocene age).
