As the apex predator of the early Eocene (approximately 50 million years ago), this shark is renowned for its teeth, which feature wide triangular crowns and distinct large side cusps.
While Otodus fossils are a staple for collectors, finding extraordinary, large (3"+) specimens in pristine condition is difficult. Many teeth on the market are damaged during crude extraction and suffer from poor repairs or reattached parts. A very rare, early Otodus obliquus anterior tooth from Kzil-Orda Region, Kazakhstan. Otodus obliquus is the ancestor to O. auriculatus (see detailed discussion below) which leads to Megalodon. The bourlette is large and complete. Exhibits no serrations. The starting species to serrated Otodus teeth. These teeth exhibit very good color, gloss, and preservation.
