Reading a Specimen Description
Condition language determines the value in this category. A claw described as fully inflated, with a complete articulated end and no repair, will be a different value from one with tip restoration and crack fill and, is definitely valued more than a heavy restored specimen, even at a similar size.
Restoration is not a fault in itself. Most large bones and horns require stabilization to survive collection and preparation, and the stated percentage indicates how much original material you are buying. Crack fill differs from restoration, and both are disclosed separately here.
Buried Treasure Fossils lists size, formation, county, and preparation for every specimen, with Certificates of Authentication for the major pieces. Collectors asking what makes fossils genuine should look for exactly that combination, since a listing that names its formation and county is far more useful than one that says only Morocco or Wyoming.

FAQs
What is the difference between a manus claw and a pes claw? Manus claws come from the hand, and pes claws come from the foot. On theropods, the manus claws are usually longer and more strongly curved, which makes them the more sought-after of the two. Both are unguals, the bony core that supported a keratin sheath in life.
Are osteoderms and scutes the same thing? Yes. Both terms describe the bony armor plates set into the skin of ankylosaurs and nodosaurs. Keeled examples came from the ridged rows along the back, while flatter peripheral types edged the body.
Why do hoof cores vary so much in price? Species and size. Triceratops hoof cores are harder to find than hadrosaur examples and differ in surface texture and proportion, so correct identification matters as much as condition does.
Does a healed pathology reduce value? Not usually. Evidence of a survived injury records something about the animal's life and many collectors prefer it.
