Pachychephalosaurus is the dinosaur which is famous for its large domed head surrounded by these spikes and nodes. These spikes and nodes were part of the skull. This spike has excellent color / patina with exceptional surface articulation. There is a small tip repair. Legally collected on private land in the Hell Creek Fm., Powder River Co., Montana.     A rare Top Quality Triceratops horridus hoof core (pes claw) from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. A February Fossil of the Month. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek and Lance Creek formations which is know for three horns and a large frill protecting its neck. This adult hoof core has exceptional detail preserved and excellent color & patina. Complete specimen. Note - Triceratops hoof cores are generally smaller than Hadrosaur, have a very rugous surface, have a characteristeristic shallow ledge on the under side, are thinner than Hadrosaur, and are more difficult to find. You can see the vertebra surface is very rugous and the vertebra is very thick which are characteristics of Triceratops and distinguishes it from a Hadrosaur.
