Trilobites are amongst the oldest arthropods. They were abundant during the Paleozoic era, but died out at the end of it. Trilobites roamed the ocean floor for 270 million years (520-250 million years ago); making Trilobites one of the most successful species! They are easy identified with their three part bodies. A very ornate design with thorax spines and incredible "tower" compound eyes! The massive eyes provided 360 degree visual coverage and allowed this trilobite to see behind itself over the thorax. Excellent shell and spine preservation. Large size. A very rare species! An Early Devonian (410 mya) trilobite from the Jbel Gara el Zguilma area, Atlas Mts., Morocco. Definitely one of my favorites! A "Flying" TOP QUALITY Walliserops trifurcatus trilobite, the "trident Comura". A November Fossil of the Month and one of the collector's favorite spiny trilobites. Walliserops trifurcatus is an unusual looking species with three rows of of spines run down its back and a trident-like fork extending from the front of the cephalon. The preparation is German controlled with all original colors and no restoration. Exceptional completeness and preservation. Great natural black shell with excellent luster. The bottom of this trilobite has been cleaned out and it sits on an 1" matrix pedestal. A very difficult species to prepare. Excellent shell and spine preservation. Compound eyes are very good.
