A TOP QUALITY, Lee Creek Otodus chubutensis, a O. megalodon predecessor, from Aurora, No. Carolina. This tooth was found in the Pungo River Formation (middle Miocene age). Note the crown exhibits cusplike bumps at the base of the serrated edge and the root ends also show grooves where the teeth interlocked. These are characteristic traits of the Lee Creek early Meg - Otodus chubutensis. A gorgeous tan colored crown with a WHITE bourlette. Great serrations. The root is WHITE colored and complete. An ultra rare, LARGE, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi partial tooth whorl, from Herrin, Illinois. A July Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. An ultra rare triple crown whorl section with exceptional quality crowns. Excellent preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. A TOP Quality Megalodon - upper jaw anterior tooth from West Java, Indonesia. This Megalodon has a cool blue draped over tan colored crown with a black colored bourlette. Highest quality enamel. This three tooth set includes upper jaw anterior teeth from Carcharodon hastalis, Carcharodon hubbelli and Carcharodon carcharias. A September Fossil of the Month. A rare associated set of 15 Ptychodus mortoni teeth - upper jaw from gove Co., Kansas. Nicely articulated crowns. Very good preservation with white mineralization covering most teeth. Set includes: 2 x A1 anteriors, 6 x A2 anteriors, 3 x A3 anteriors, 1 x L1 lateral, 2 x L2 laterals, and 1 x L3 lateral.
