Otodus megalodon was the undisputed king of the Miocene - Pliocene seas (2-15 million years ago), and are found in the Miocene Pungo River Formation and Pliocene Yorktown Formation at the Lee Creek phosphate mine. Please note that Lee Creek produces Otodus megalodon and Otodus chubutensis teeth that are among the highest quality available, and exceptional specimens are exceedingly difficult to locate. NO restoration or repair in this group! Note - Lee Creek Megs are getting very difficult to locate. The mine has been closed to collecting since 2008. Note the crown exhibits large cusplike bumps at the base of the serrated edge and the root ends also show grooves where the teeth interlocked. These are characteristic traits of the Lee Creek early Meg - C. chubutensis. A classic tan colored crown with a brown bourlette. Great serrations.
