An EXTRA LARGE Top Quality, Carcharodon hastalis,  Mako shark tooth (lower anterior jaw tooth) from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Note - This tooth exhibits the classic characteristic shape of the middle Miocene Mako teeth found both in the Lee Creek mine and the NC red site. I do not see this Mako tooth shape from other Miocene deposits. Possibly a hastalis species variation and it is referred to as the "narrow form". Maximum size is approximately 2". This tooth has a rich blue & tan crown and a tan colored root. Excellent colors!  Razor sharp cutting edge. Excellent preservation - note nutrient hole on root. "The Best of West Java".  An ultra rare EXTRA LARGE, TOP QUALITY 6-1/16" Megalodon - upper jaw tooth from West Java, Indonesia. A January Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon has an excellent tan & light red-brown and tan & brown bourlette color. The back of the crown has incredible color patterning. Highest quality enamel. Exceptional color!
