The May 2015 Fossil of the Month. My BEST GEM, EXTRA LARGE Megalodon PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR upper jaw tooth from the Ashapoo River, So. Carolina. A "PICTURE" Meg with a gorgeous light brown ("Ashapoo") crown with charcoal colored "clouds". Highest quality enamel. The medium brown bourlette is incredible, very glossy, nearly complete, and very showy. The serrations are incredibly large and sharp with an excellent tip serration, and 100% complete - perfect! A FOTM is back. A GREEN TOP QUALITY, EXTRA LARGE Megalodon upper jaw PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth from the So. Edisto River, So. Carolina. A fantastic green colored crown with tan color approaching the tip, and the serration color fades to a charcoal gray color. Very cool colors! High quality enamel. The bourlette is brown.The serrations show some wear, and are essentially complete with a good tip serration. Very good serrations for a big Meg. The root is nicely articulated with a nice brown color. Excellent symmetry. This is an excellent big Meg. Weighs more than 1 lb. NO repair! AN EXCEPTIONAL BIG GREEN MEG from So. Edisto River. A High Quality , 4-1/8" ULTRA RARE Caribbean Megalodon tooth - an upper jaw ANTERIOR tooth. This Megalodon tooth has an incredible very light creamy tan colored crown with interesting light charcoal gray patterning. High quality enamel with no hydration cracks. The Caribbean Megalodon teeth consistently offer the closest to white colored enamel. Excellent color! The bourlette is large and essentially perfect. The serrations are razor sharp including a worn tip serration. Excellent serrations! The root is an excellent creamy tan color with no hydration cracks. Great symmetry. Note - there was a 1/4" strip of the serrations on the right side of the tooth saw cut near the base and it was professionally restored. The damaged area was restricted to the edge only. This Megalodon was found in a limestone quarry in the Caribbean (Miocene age). This is an incredible Caribbean Meg tooth. A fine example of an ultra rare Caribbean Megalodon tooth, and an excellent collector's rare Megalodon tooth! Note - The limestone is sawed into thin blocks for extraction which totally destroys 99%+ of these Megalodon teeth.
