An ultra rare, Top Quality EXTRA LARGE Edestus heinrichi shark whorl section with 3 big crowns, from Herrin, Illinois. An April Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Excellent preservation and serrations. Note - extra long root whorl section with 3 extra large crowns - very rare. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. Note - Two crown tips were professionally retored. Authenticity guaranteed. A TOP QUALITY, LARGE Stylemys nebrascensis, a fossil tortoise shell, from the White River Badlands, Brule Formation, South Dakota. Fantastic color and preservation. Note that Stylemys is thought to be a burrowing tortoise which helps maintain the 3-D in aspect of the shell when they are died in their burrow. Exceptional preparation with a little restoration done to the left side (front view) which is minor and common for the White River tortoise shells. The Beilschmiedia eocenica is a Laurel leaf from the Eocene age (48 MYA) in the ancient Lake Unita deposit. This piece exhibits exceptional preservation and excellent color. No repair or restoration. A HUGE 3" Top Quality Carcharodon carcharias, the Great White shark, tooth from So. Carolina. A July Fossil of the Month. An upper jaw anterior tooth. Highest quality enamel. A Top Quality Tietea singularis, petrified Tree Fern, trunk slice from the Maranhão Basin, NE Brazil. This tree fern was from the Pedra do Fogo Formation and is Permian age age (265 MYA). Both sides are polished. The interior is highly vascular with unqiue pores and channels that have been silicified into agate. Trunk slice thickness is 3/16" and makes a great display. A well preserved Glyptotherium scute from the ACE Basin, So. Carolina. The Glyptotherium  was an oversized armadillo with a thick shell that was a close relative to the Glyptodon. It evolved in the early Pliocene and became extinct at the end of the Pleistocene in North America. This is a scute is complete with some wear. Well fossilized. No repair or restoration. Authenticity guaranteed.
