An EXTRA LARGE, GEM Quality, shark vertabra from the Sharktooth Hill area, near Bakersfield, California. A February Fossil of the Month.Note - Most likely a large Mako shark vertebra and part of an associated pair with ST954. The sides are all clean and fully articulated. A Top Quality, Classic Lee Creek Megalodon upper jaw tooth. This Megalodon has an incredible light tan colored crown with an excellent brown bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Exceptional color!  The serrations are razor sharp with an excellent needle-like tip serration. Serrations are just about 100% complete (1 with minor damage). The root is an excellent tan color with small hydration cracks and absolutely complete. This Megalodon was found in the Pungo River Formation, Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina (Miocene age = 14.5 MYA). An excellent tooth from the old days at Lee Creek mine! No repair or restoration. A very rare, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi shark tooth, from Herrin, Illinois. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. An incredible brown colored specimen - very unusual. Excellent preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A LARGE Quality, "The Grumpy Old Man" Megalodon tooth - an upper jaw tooth from the ACE river basin, South Carolina.
