The December 2014 week #3 "Fossil Shark Tooth of the Month" selection is a ~3-1/2" Gem Carcharocles sokolovi from Morocco. This is one of the best GEM extra large Carcharocles sokolovi that I have seen. The BEST of the BEST!

M040           Size: 3-7/16"   (2-5/8" W)

A GEM, Lee Creek Carcharocles chubutensis, a C. megalodon predecessor, from Aurora, No. Carolina. This tooth was given the name the "Oreo Chub" with its black and white bourlette. Very rare colors for Lee Creek. A May Fossil of the Month. This tooth was found in the Pungo River Formation (middle Miocene age). Note the crown exhibits large cusplike bumps at the base of the serrated edge and the root ends also show grooves where the teeth interlocked. These are characteristic traits of the Lee Creek early Meg - C. chubutensis. A gorgeous tan &  blue colored crown with an incredible black & white bourlette. Fantastic serrations with a nearly perfect with damage to one. The root is dark brown with small hydration cracks. Highest quality enamel! Excellent color! No repair or restoration. Authenticity guaranteed. I have only seen one LC Chub like this one -  the "Oreo Chub" is a Lee Creek rarity!

An EXTRA LARGE, Top Quality Struthiomimus altus upper toe bone or metatarsal from the late Cretaceous of North America. Struthiomimus is a long legged, bipedal, toothless dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation. The Struthiomimus means "ostrich mimic" which best describes this species. An execellent metatarsal bone. Big and heavy. Excellent brown color and patina. This specimen has very good overall perservation. A complete specimen with some natural crushing on the rear side and minor crack fill. A high quality, collector's metatarsal bone from the Hell Creek of Montana. Excellent bone preservation. A Top Quality, Triceratops horridus brow horn from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. A February 2021 Fossil of the Month. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek and Lance Creek formations. This is a special horn with exceptional detail preserved and exceptional color / patina. You can see all of the natural blood grooves around the surface of the horn. The preparation of the horn was fairly basic and simple - some cracks filled and a small area around the tip was restored. This is very minimal restoration for a horn. It comes with the welded steel stand as shown. A fantastic fossil overall. Legally collected on private land in the Lance Creek Fm., Lusk, Wyoming. A Top Quality upper jaw Notorhynchus tooth - a Sevengill Cow shark, from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Note - this is an upper lateral tooth with 5 main cusps (one damaged). I rarely see this tooth position. This tooth has a rich blue & tan crown with a tan root. Incredible color and preservation. These are Miocene age, Pungo River Formation teeth. An incredible, EXTRA LARGE Mosasaurus anceps cervical (neck) vertebra including the neural canal and processes. Exceptional condition and preservation (very rare). An EXTRA LARGE, ~2" Top Quality Hexanchus griseus tooth from the Caldera Basin of Chile. Beautiful blue cusps. A February Fossil of the Month. This is large complete lower jaw tooth from a large shark. Superb preservation and color. Twelve primary cusps. An excellent root which is very unique & extremely difficult to find! A Very Rare, Top Quality Paraorthacodus rossi tooth from Hornby Island, British Columbia, Canada. This is a newly named species from the Late Cretaceous deep water Northumberland Formation deposit. A unique species believed to be Palaeospinacidae shark. The crown and root are mostly complete with slight damage to the central cusp and one side cusp. High quality enamel. No repair. A very difficult tooth to locate and an excellent collector's tooth. Authenticity guaranteed. This incredible specimen is from a 20 year old collection.

A TOP QUALITY, 4-5/8" Classic Lee Creek Megalodon tooth - an lower jaw PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth. This Meg has an incredible light tan colored crown with an excellent brown bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Excellent color! The bourlette is excellent and near perfect. The serrations are large and razor sharp - essentially perfect with an exceptional tip serration. Excellent serrations - razor sharp! The root is an excellent tan color and absolutely complete. Excellent anterior symmetry! This Megalodon was found in the Pungo Formation, Lee Creek mine, NC (Miocene age = 15 MYA).
