An Extra Large, TOP QUALITY, 3" Carcharodon (Isurus) hastalis tooth with an excellent blue & tan colored crown. A March Fossil of the Month. This is a natural matrix specimen sitting with many whale bones in the original Round Mountain Silt matrix block. The large whale bone at base is 5-3/4" x 3". Plus there are four more whale bones and a shark vertebra exposed in this matrix block. This is a 100% natural matrix piece - nothing added or glued. 100% natural. The root is very well preserved with a nice brown color. Very clean crown. Excellent overall preservation. A fantastic large, quality Mako tooth from the Ernst West quarry which produced the finest teeth with exceptional preservation, high quality, and great color. A Top Quality, Carcharodon hastalis,  Mako shark tooth (upper anterior jaw tooth) from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Note - This tooth exhibits the classic characteristic shape of the middle Miocene Mako teeth found both in the Lee Creek mine and the NC red site. I do not see this Mako tooth shape from other Miocene deposits. Possibly a hastalis species variation and it is referred to as the "narrow form". Maximum size is approximately 2". This tooth has a rich  blue crown and a tan colored root. Excellent colors!  Razor sharp cutting edge. Excellent preservation - note nutrient hole on root. It is a Miocene tooth from the Pungo River Fm. An excellent collector's tooth. Authenticity guaranteed. A perfect "Pungo" hastalis tooth.

"The Best of West Java".  An ultra rare, TOP QUALITY, Megalodon - upper jaw anterior tooth from West Java, Indonesia - new site. A July Fossil of the Month. A "Picture Meg" tooth. This Megalodon has an incredible tan color draped with shades of red-brown & blue and an excellent caramel colored bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Fantastic color! The bourlette is extra large and 100% complete. The serrations are razor sharp and complete with an excellent tip serration. Excellent serrations for a BIG Meg.
