Rare Shark Teeth Species

A High Quality Ultra Rare Alopias palatasi shark tooth, the extinct serrated Giant Thresher shark from the Meherrin River copper red site in No. Carolina. An August 2020 Fossil of the Month offering. An excellent serrated tooth. Very good preservation and condition. This tooth is middle Miocene age, Hertford Co., NC. No repair or restoration. Authenticity guaranteed. An ultra rare, Top Quality EXTRA LARGE Edestus heinrichi shark whorl section with 4 big crowns, from Sparta, Illinois. An August Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Excellent preservation and serrations. Note - extra long root whorl section with 4 extra large crowns - very rare. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. No repair or restoration. Authenticity guaranteed. An Ultra Rare, TOP QUALITY Parotodus benedeni, the False Mako, tooth from Pyramid Hill, Kern County, California. This tooth has a nice tan colored enamel and a very massive root. The crown enamel has good luster and sharp edges. High quality enamel. Note - the right root end was professionally repaired. It is difficult to see any repair. Note - This is an early Miocene (22 MYA) tooth from the Jewitt Sand Formation, An extremely difficult tooth to locate! Authenticity guaranteed. One of the rarest P. benedeni teeth.

A very rare Glyphis glyphis tooth, the Speartooth shark, from Sumatra, Indonesia. These teeth were deposited in the Telisa formation - a shallow marine environment during the middle Miocene (approx. 15 million years ago.) A very unique collector's tooth. D176 is the lower lateral tooth on the right. Authenticity guaranteed.
