Otodus megalodon was the undisputed king of the Miocene - Pliocene seas (2-15 million years ago), and are found in the Miocene Pungo River Formation and Pliocene Yorktown Formation at the Lee Creek phosphate mine. Please note that Lee Creek produces Otodus megalodon and Otodus chubutensis teeth that are among the highest quality available, and exceptional specimens are exceedingly difficult to locate. This Chubutensis has an incredible tan colored crown with a golden band at the base and an incredible brown bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Exceptional color! The bourlette looks great, and is complete. The serrations are sharp with an excllent tip serration. The root is an excellent white color with no hydration cracks and a small chip. This Chubutensis was found in the Pungo River Formation, Lee Creek mine, NC (Miocene age = 14.5 MYA). Note the crown exhibits large cusplike bumps at the base of the serrated edge and the root ends also show grooves where the teeth interlocked. These are characteristic traits of the Lee Creek early Meg - C. chubutensis. A gorgeous light tan colored crown with an incredible light tan bourlette. Very good serrations.
