An exceptional, LARGE Scaldicetus sp., a Sperm whale, tooth from Caldera area of Chile. An incredible late Miocene Sperm whale tooth from the Bahia Inglesa Fm. An August Fossil of the Month. This tooth is nicely displayed on top of a section of original Bahia Inglesia Fm. bone bed. This bone bed section has pieces of bone and a couple of shark tooth tip visible. It has exceptional preservation, fantastic brown color, and is exceptionally clean. A QUALITY, very rare Archaeocete whale, Zygorhiza kochii. A large incisor tooth. An exceptional brown colored crown. Nicely articulated. Large root - complete. This tooth has no repair. Note - enamel tip shows a wear pattern on crown from grinding tough prey. Whales do not shed their teeth like the sharks so there teeth will wear with age. A Top Quality, Extra Large Sperm whale tooth, Scaldicetus sp., from the ACE river basin, So. Carolina. A Miocene age whale tooth. This tooth has a wonderful spiked enamel crown and a large, nearly complete round root. The tip of the crown has a small natural wear facet - quite common for these teeth. This tooth shows excellent detail - very well preserved. The root is extra wide and nicely articulated. A very well preserved specimen with no river wear! An excellent BIG Sperm whale tooth.
