A  TOP Quality Chubutensis tooth - an upper jaw tooth from So. Carolina. Otodus chubutensis or Chubutensis is the extinct ancestor of the Megalodon shark. An excellent Gray colored crown. Highest quality enamel. The black bourlette is complete. Sharp serrations are sharp with an excellent tip serration and essentially complete. The root is charcoal gray colored and complete. Note the small cusp-like bumps at the base of the cutting edge, grooved sides of the root lobes, and the larger sized serrations - all are Chubutensis characteristics. A beautifully prepared, GEM QUALITY Comura bultyncki trilobite. The collector's favorite spiny trilobite. An April Fossil of the Month. Dozens of large spines fully exposed requiring many dozens of hours of air abrasion. One of the most difficult species to prepare. The Comura has very ornate spiny trilobite design with excellent compound eyes! Excellent shell and spine preservation. Large size. A scarce species!
