As the apex predator of the early Eocene (approximately 50 million years ago), this shark is renowned for its teeth, which feature wide triangular crowns and distinct large side cusps.
While Otodus fossils are a staple for collectors, finding extraordinary, large (3"+) specimens in pristine condition is difficult. Many teeth on the market are damaged during crude extraction and suffer from poor repairs or reattached parts.
