Spicomellus afer - Ankylosaur

A newly named Ankylosaur – Spicomellus afer. This armored ankylosaur dinosaur dates to the Middle Jurassic (Bathonian age – 166 MYA)), and it is the earliest known Ankylosaur. As per the image below, this Ankylosaur is quite unique in that its body armor is composed of large and small spikes. No other dinosaur or animal possesses elaborate dermal armor. Spicomellus was found in the Boulemaine area, Fes Meknes, Morocco.
