A Top Quality Lepidodendron section from Keota, Oklahoma. The Lepidodendron is extinct genus of tree-sized primitive lycopsid plants that evolved during the Pennsylvanian Period. They are large vascular plants which is related to todays club mosses. This specimen is well preserved with dimple-like depressions covering the outer surface. Pennsylvanian age. (300 mya). Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically.
