A very rare, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi shark tooth, from Herrin, Illinois. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Excellent preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. An ULTRA RARE, MONSTER Great White shark tooth - upper jaw anterior tooth from Chile. A BIG pathologic GW tooth. A June Fossil of the Month. This tooth has a BLUE colored crown, a distinct gum line, and a burgundy root. Fantastic color! Highest quality enamel with little hydration cracks and no peeling. The enamel does have large wrinkles and the serration edge has multiple waves. Serrations are large with a good tip serration. The root is thick and extra wide. A Top Quality, Rare Pachychephalosaurus wyomingensis head spike from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. Pachychephalosaurus is the dinosaur which is famous for its large domed head surrounded by these spikes and nodes. These spikes and nodes were part of the Pachy skull. This juvenile Pachy skull spike has excellent color and patina. Note the large blood grooves in the bone. It is a complete skull spike specimen. Note - the very tip was professionally restored. Legally collected on private land in the Hell Creek Fm., Powder River Co., Montana. An excellent collector's quality Pachychephalosaurus node. An Ultra Rare EXTRA LARGE, Top Quality Tyrannosaurus rex tooth. Another August 2018 Fossil of the Month. This Rex crown measures 4-1/2" (straightline) and is thick (1-9/16") - a massive Rex tooth. The enamel is very high quality and a rich dark brown color. Good posterior and anterior serrations with a small amount of natural tip wear. An extra wide base. This is a big and heavy tooth. Note - this tooth was cracked in a freeze cycle as evidenced by the cracks in the top half of the tooth. The preparator did a exceptional job prepping this tooth and it is rock solid now. A small area of the cutting edge was rebuilt about midway on both the anterior and posterior sides (see final photo). Excellent overall condition for a big Rex tooth. A incredibly rare & special tooth! T-Rex was the apex during the late Cretaceous with massive teeth capable of crushing its prey.
