A High Quality, Lee Creek Megalodon tooth - lower jaw PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth. This Megalodon has a nice tan colored crown with an excellent brown bourlette. The bourlette is excellent and near complete. The serrations are sharp, but the tip was lost in a feeding frenzy. The root is an excellent tan color with few hydration cracks and absolutely complete with cool groove on the root lobes. This Megalodon was found in the Pungo River Formation, Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina (Miocene age = 14.5 MYA). An excellent collector's tooth from the old days at Lee Creek mine! A TOP QUALITY Megalonyx leptostomus sloth claw from an extinct genus of giant ground sloths and our December 2017 Fossil of the Month. This claw has excellent preservation and shows little water wear. It's complete down to a nice tip with absolutely no restoration or repair. Excellent preservation of the proximal end. There is a little eriosion on the top of the claw. A wonderful Late Pliocene - Early Pleistocene display piece from northern Florida. Authenticity guaranteed. One of my favorites!
