An ultra rare, Top Quality EXTRA LARGE Edestus heinrichi shark whorl section with 3 big crowns, from Herrin, Illinois. An April Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Excellent preservation and serrations. Note - extra long root whorl section with 3 extra large crowns - very rare. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. A HUGE Top Quality, Otodus obliquus tooth from the Khouribga phosphate mining area of Morocco. A BIG anterior tooth with an extra wide crown. This tooth has an excellent golden tan color and a white root. Sharp edges and tip. The side cusps are complete. A massive, thick root. Right root lobe appears to be reattached. Great color! One of the earliest ancestors of the Megalodon. An excellent collector's quality tooth. Authenticity guaranteed. A very rare Parotodus benedeni tooth from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Lateral tooth from a reworked layer. The crown has minor wear with small tip damage. The root is ~9/16" thick and shows typical hydration cracks. This Parotodus tooth was found in the Yorktown Formation (Pliocene age). No repair or restoration. A very special, rare collector's tooth.
