An ultra rare, Top Quality Judith River Nodosaur body spike from the late Cretaceous of North America. AJune Fossil of the Month. The Campanian age Nodosaurs grew to 22 feet and 6000 pounds, and a body covered with this bony armor with body spikes along the edge of the body (see Edmontonia photo). Edmontonia is the named Two Medicine Fm. Nodosaur which is a good proxy to the currently undescribed Judith River Fm. Nodosaur. The bone is excellent quality with excellent color / patina. A complete side armor spike from a large Nodosaur. ~72 MYA. Note - there is less than 10% professional restoration in small areas for aesthetic purposes at the base. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek and Lance Creek formations which is know for three horns and the large frill protecting its neck. A complete nasal horn. This is an exceptional nasal horn with excellent detail preserved. You can see all of the natural blood grooves around the surface of the horn and the skull bone is attached to the rear of the horn. A rare Top Quality Triceratops horridus caudal vertebra from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. A November Fossil of the Month. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation which is known for three horns and a large frill protecting its neck. This is a caudal (tail) vertebra with exceptional detail preserved with great color and patina. You can see the vertebra surface is very rugous and the vertebra is very thick with a very round centra which are characteristics of Triceratops and distinguishes it from a Hadrosaur. Triceratops bones are more difficult to find. Please note that the left transverse porcess and the spinous process were professionally restored. This is now specimen compete. It is extremely rare to find vertebra that are complete. Legally collected on private land in Powder River Co., Montana. It comes with the custom steel stand as shown. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek Formation. This is a special horn with exceptional detail preserved and excellent color & natural patina. Fantastic surface articualtion. You can see all of the natural blood grooves around the surface of the horn. Plus this horn includes most of the orbital which is quite rare - a very complete specimen. The preparation of the horn was fairly basic and simple - some minor crack fill and approximately 1" of the tip end was restored which is very minimal restoration for a horn.
