This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Excellent preservation and serrations. Note - extra long root whorl section with 4 extra large crowns - very rare. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. A gorgeous Quenstedticeras lamberti ammonite from the Saratov region of Russia. Incredible pyrite replaced ammonite with a crystal lined interior. This ammonite has natural irredescent crystal colors - very nice. Excellent pyrite crystals!  Middle Jurassic age. Authenticity guaranteed. Note - supply of these pyrite ammonites stopped in 2011. A GEM, 5-1/4" Classic Lee Creek Megalodon tooth - ANTERIOR tooth. Our August 2017 Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon has an incredible light blue and tan colored crown with an exceptional mahogany brown bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Exceptional tan & light blue color! The bourlette is extra large and incredible with two shades of brown. The serrations are razor sharp with an exceptional tip serration. Exceptional serrations for a big Meg! The root is an excellent light tan color with essentially no hydration cracks and absolutely complete. This Megalodon was found in the Pungo River Formation, Lee Creek mine, NC (Miocene age = 14.5 MYA). One of the finest examples of a classic Lee Creek Miocene Megalodon tooth considering the shape, color, and preservation. A rare, Top Quality ~5" CLASSIC Chile Megalodon tooth from the sand layer, Bahia Inglesa Fm., Caldera area, Chile. A March Fossil of the Month. An excellent light tan colored crown with no enamel peel. Good quality enamel. The bourlette has a nice mahogany brown color and is 100% complete. The serrations are sharp with some damage. The root is excellent tan color and extra wide with a small sliver of damage on the side of the root. Good "eye appeal". Great symmetry. No repair or restoration. A rare Chilean Megalodon tooth from the old days!
