A rare, GEM Quality juvenile Miocene-Pliocene Mastodon molar from Florida. A February Fossil of the Month. This is an extinct elephant ancestor that inhabited North America during the late Miocene to late Pliocene. This molar has 3 cusp rows with no cusp wear. So, this is an unerupted tooth. Excellent rich green -brown color. Exceptional posterior and anterior serrations. Note - the anterior carina end about 1/2 of the way down from the tip. The diagnostic for a Torvosaurus tooth. Fantastic overall enamel condition and serrations. No repair or restoration. Torvosaurus was a large predator during the late Jurassic with large teeth designed to slash predators.
