A very rare, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi shark tooth, from Herrin, Illinois. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. An excellent matrix specimen that inludes the opposing tooth mold as well. Excellent preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. An ULTRA RARE, Top Quality 6-1/16" Caribbean Megalodon tooth - a upper jaw PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR tooth. An October Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon tooth has an incredible very light tan colored crown with charcoal and red-brown highlights. Highest quality enamel with very small hydration cracks. The bourlette is white colored and complete. The Caribbean Megalodon teeth consistently offer the closest to white colored enamel. Fantastic color! The serrations are razor sharp and complete. Excellent serrations overall. The root is a golden tan color, has no hydration cracks, and iscomplete. Note - this tooth has 1/2" of professional restoration of a saw cut  located 5/8" below the tip on the right side (typical for these teeth). A GEM, ~5-1/4" Classic Lee Creek Megalodon tooth - ANTERIOR tooth. Our 2nd January 2017 Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon has an incredible light blue colored crown with an exceptional mahogany brown bourlette and mostly complete. Highest quality enamel. Exceptional tan & light blue color!
