A rare Top Quality Triceratops horridus vertebra from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek and Lance Creek formations which is know for three horns and a large frill protecting its neck. This is a caudal (tail) vertebra with exceptional detail preserved and great color / patina. You can see the vertebra surface is very rugous and the vertebra is very thick with a very round centra which are characteristics of Triceratops and distinguishes it from a Hadrosaur. Once thought to be a "raptor" tooth, it is now clear that these teeth are Abelisaurid, a family of Ceratosaurian theropod dinosaurs with the unique straight posterior carina. They were the dominate smaller theropod in the late Cretaceous Kem Kem deposit. Excellent red color and serrations. Excellent preservation. No repair or restoration. Authenticity guaranteed. A LARGE, Top Quality Edmontosaurus annectens caudal (tail) vertebra "chevron" from the late Cretaceous of North America. Edmontosaurus is a very large hadrosaur or "duck-bill" dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation. The chevron is the appendage that resides below the tail vertebra that provides structure to the base of the tail. Chevron bones rarely survive and this one is 95% complete - rare!
