A Rare, "Flying" Minicryphaeus giganteus trilobite. Another November Fossil of the Month. The specimen has been expertly prepared to make it completely free standing in a flying position. This is a BIG trilobite with a very unique design. Incredible shell and spine preservation and incredible size for this rare species! A well defined rostrum and excellent compound eyes. Note-  a rather new trilobite which was first described and named in 2014. An Early Devonian (410 mya) trilobite from the Jbel El Mrakib area, Atlas Mts., Morocco. An ultra rare, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi, a complete whorl with three crowns from Herrin, Illinois. A July Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamp that our now underground coal deposits. Exceptional preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically with linear tooth whorls. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. This whorl is incredibly massive at 6" long with three crowns. The whorl body is well perserved with an excellent bright line of pyrite below the crown enamel. The crowns are large at 1-5/8" wide and look fantastic. Note - One crown tip has a small professional repair (~1/8") which is very common for a whorl. Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. A Top Quality Tietea singularis, petrified Tree Fern, trunk slice from the Maranhão Basin, NE Brazil. This tree fern was from the Pedra do Fogo Formation and is Permian age age (265 MYA). Both sides are polished. The interior is highly vascular with unqiue pores and channels that have been silicified into agate. Trunk slice thickness is 3/16" and makes a great display. An EXTRA LARGE, GEM Tyrannosaurus rex tooth. This crown measures 3-1/2" and is extra thick (1-1/4"). The GEM quality 3"+ teeth are also the "holy grail" collector's T-Rex tooth. The enamel is the highest quality with a narrow strip of root etching. Exceptional anterior and posterior serrations. No cracks.
