A rare, Top Quality Megalodon - upper jaw anterior tooth from West Java, Indonesia - new site. This Megalodon has an incredible tan color tooth which is draped with a red-brown color by the serrations and an excellent red colored bourlette. Highest quality enamel. Excellent color! The bourlette is large and complete. The serrations are razor sharp and complete with an excellent tip serration. Exceptional serrations. A Top Quality Alethopteris sp. - fossil fern display piece from St. Clair, Pennsylvania. A December Fossil of the Month. Alethopteris is an extinct genus of primitive seed fern that evolved during the Pennsylvanian Period. This specimen is well preserved with white colored ferns on a near black colored shale matrix. This white coating is a characteristic of the mineral pyrophyllite. The St. Clair area is known for their white ferns on black matrix. Pennsylvanian age. (300 mya). It weighs 16.8 pounds. An EXTRA LARGE, rare Top Quality Camarasaurus tooth, a late Jurassic sauropod tooth from the Morrison Fm. A September Fossil of the Month. Camarasaurus had robust spoon shaped teeth to tear tough vegetation. This tooth is complete with incredible surfaces. The enamel is highest quality. An ultra rare, GEM Quality Torvosaurus tanneri tooth from the Morrison Formation. A September Fossil of the Month. This completeTorvosaurus crown measures 1-516". The enamel is highest quality. Excellent rich green -brown color. Exceptional posterior and anterior serrations. Note - the anterior carina end about 1/2 of the way down from the tip. The diagnostic for a Torvosaurus tooth. A LARGE Top Quality, Rare Pachychephalosaurus wyomingensis spike from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. Excellent articulation. This is a large neck spike with deep blood grooves. Pachychephalosaurus is the dinosaur which is famous for its large domed head surrounded by these spikes and nodes. These spikes and nodes were part of the skull. This spike has excellent color / patina. It is a complete specimen with no cracks or breaks. Legally collected on private land in the Hell Creek Fm., Powder River Co., Montana. A RARE, Top Quality Saurornitholestes sp. (raptor) tooth from New Mexico. Saurornitholestes is a close relative of Velociraptor. This tooth is 1/4" which is a typical size. The enamel is excellent with a great tan color. This species is known for large posterior serrations that will turn upwards. Excellent posterior (distal) and very good (top 2/3) anterior (mesial) serrations. No repair or restoration. This is a late Campanian age tooth (approx. 76 MYA). A very rare, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi shark tooth, from Herrin, Illinois. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. Fantastic enamel quality. Excellent preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois.
