A rare Carcharhinus plumbeus tooth, the Sandbar shark, from Sumatra, Indonesia. These teeth were deposited in the Telisa formation - a shallow marine environment during the middle Miocene (approx. 15 million years ago.) A very unique collector's tooth. The my last July 2017 Fossil of the Month is a GEM 4-11/16" Megalodon - upper jaw ANTERIOR tooth. Fantastic colors - gray enamel and a jet black bourlette. "The Twist"  A rare Top Quality PATHOLOGIC Auriculatus tooth from Harleyville, So. Carolina.  An incredible twisted tooth. A Top Quality Alethopteris sp. - fossil fern display piece from St. Clair, Pennsylvania. A December Fossil of the Month. Alethopteris is an extinct genus of primitive seed fern that evolved during the Pennsylvanian Period. This specimen is well preserved with white colored ferns on a near black colored shale matrix. This white coating is a characteristic of the mineral pyrophyllite. The St. Clair area is known for their white ferns on black matrix. Pennsylvanian age. (300 mya). It weighs 16.8 pounds.
