A September Fossil of the Month. Triceratops was a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation which is known for three horns and the large frill protecting its neck. Small well preserved egg shell pieces from Pyroraptor olympius, a Dromaeosaurid raptor dinosaur, from southern France. This small raptor whose name means "fire thief". A very unique shell design with large dimples. These egg shell pieces are typical size for these small eggs with a shell thickness of 1/32"+. A top quality, large Phareodus fish. The Phareodus encaustus is a Osteoglossidae fish from the Eocene age (50 MYA) fish, Green River Fm., Lincoln Co. Wyoming. The Phareodus was a carnivorous fish with large pointed teeth and a long pectoral fin. This piece is from the Split Fish Layer and shows fantastic detail. Excellent preservation and preparation.
