A LARGE, Top Quality Carcharodon hastalis, Broad-tooth Mako, shark tooth - upper jaw anterior tooth from the Bahia Iglesa Fm. of Chile. This tooth has a light blue crown and a tan root. An EXTRA LARGE, TOP QUALITY, Carcharodon (Isurus) hastalis tooth with an excellent blue color from the Sharktooth Hill area, Bakersfield, California. This tooth is nicely displayed on its original Round Mountain silt matrix. The root is very well preserved with a brown color. Very clean crown. Note - This tooth exhibits the classic characteristic shape of the middle Miocene Mako teeth found both in the Lee Creek mine and the NC red site. I do not see this Mako tooth shape from other Miocene deposits. Possibly a hastalis species variation and it is referred to as the "narrow form". Maximum size is approximately 2".
