A rare, Top Quality Triceratops horridus rooted tooth from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. Another July 2018 Fossil of the Month. Triceratops is a large ceratopsian dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation. The enamel is excellent quality with excellent color / patina. Extra large root which is quite rare. Incredible preservation of the crown and root that shows their intricate detail. The chewing surface measures 1-1/14” with a very high ridge. An ultra rare, Top Quality Parotodus benedeni (False Mako) shark tooth from the Australian Portland Cement Ltd quarry, Batesford, Victoria, Australia. A May Fossil of the Month. Incredible color and preservation. Complete tooth. This tooth is Middle Miocene (Batesfordian) from the Batesford Limestone Fm. Note - tghe end of the tip was professionally restored. A Paraconularia crustala, a Conulariid, from Holdenville, Oklahoma. Conulariid, is a genus named for the Latin word conulus or cone. This fossil is shaped like a rectangular cone. The fossil is made up of rows of calcium phosphate rods which is the same material that a fossil shark is made of. This creature was placed Cnidaria phylum in the Animal kingdom, and its relatives include the corals, anemones, and jellyfish. Exceptional preservation. This is a Wewoka Fm., Pennsylvanian Period fossil (300 MYA). Authenticity guaranteed. A very unique display piece!

A TOP QUALITY Arcophoca longirostris seal jaw from the Bahia Inglesa Fm., Copiapo, Chile. An August Fossil of the Month. Arcophoca is a late Miocene age seal. This jaw (mandible) is complete with a perfect canine and 4 molars. There are multiple cracks in the jaw that were glued / stabilized without filler. Great preservation and color. An ultra rare, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi, a complete whorl with three crowns from Herrin, Illinois. A July Fossil of the Month. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamp that our now underground coal deposits. Exceptional preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically with linear tooth whorls. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. This whorl is incredibly massive at 6" long with three crowns. The whorl body is well perserved with an excellent bright line of pyrite below the crown enamel. The crowns are large at 1-5/8" wide and look fantastic. Note - One crown tip has a small professional repair (~1/8") which is very common for a whorl. Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. Authenticity guaranteed. The Edestus shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These Edestus whorls are extremely rare.
