The Scyphocrinites crinoid was a floating variety which was attached to a holdfast air bladder that supported multiple stems and calyx ("flower"). The C. hubbelli is an evolutionary transition from the non-serrated big-tooth Mako shark to the fully serrated Great White shark which takes place in the late Miocene period.
