A very rare, LARGE, Top Quality Edestus heinrichi shark tooth, from Herrin, Illinois. This is a Paleozoic shark that lived in swamps that our now underground coal deposits. A unique brown colored tooth - very unusual.. Excellent preservation, serrations, and serration detail. The Edestus shark would have an upper and lower tooth whorl that are vertically opposed. Research showed that they could use their opposing teeth in a scissor-like motion or a vertical whipping motion to cut prey. It is the first animal to cut vertically. A very strange looking and unique acting shark. Shark recreation image is credited to Julio Lacerdo. These rare teeth are Pennsylvanian age from Illinois. This is a new genius from the Late Cretaceous deep water Northumberland Formation deposit. A unique species of Hexanchiforme shark. A Top Quality Lambeosaur (Parasaurolophus) maxilla from the late Cretaceous (Judith River Fm.) of North America. An April Fossil of the Month. This is a complete upper jaw containing 100s exposed teeth. Parasaurolophus is a lambeosaur (crested) hadrosaur or "duck-bill" from the Judith River Formation in Montana. The maxilla possessed 100s teeth that were in rows of teeth which acted as conveyor belt to maintain a chewing surface to cut and grind their food. Bone quality is excellent. Minor crack fill. No restoration. Legally collected on private land in the Judith River Fm., Fergus Co., Mpntana. A rare EXTRA LARGE, Top Quality Edmontosaurus annectens hoof core (toe or pes ungual) from the late Cretaceous of North America. An August Fossil of the Month. Edmontosaurus is a very large hadrosaur or "duck-bill" dinosaur found in the Hell Creek formation. This is a toe hoof core from a massive Edmontosaurus. It is from the center toe - toe III. The largest one that I have seen! The Edmontosaurus was bipedal and had much larger feet relative to hands. Bone quality is excellent. No repair or restoration. An EXTRA LARGE, Top Quality Ankylosaurus osteoderm (bony armor plate) from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. Ankylosaurus magniventris was the largest Ankylosaur which grew to 30 feet and 17000 pounds, and a body covered with this bony armor. A complete body osteoderm plate from an adult Ankylosaurus. The bone quality is excellent with excellent color and patina. This osteoderm has a high ridge on one side. There are some hydration cracks and crack fill. No restoration.
