A rare, EXTRA LARGE Top Quality Chubutensis tooth from the Nottoway River, Virginia. An exceptional upper jaw anterior tooth. A nice red & gray colored crown with a black colored bourlette and root. Highest quality enamel. Excellent color & preservation. The serrations are large and sharp with a good tip serration. The root is complete, extra large, and well preserved. Details

This catalog contains excellent teeth from Otodus (Carcharocles) chubutensis, the immediate predecessor of the Megalodon shark in the Miocene. Chubutensis teeth are noted for their triangular crown and small serrated side cusps. These teeth are from the Middle Miocene.

All of these C. chubutensis teeth were found in the Miocene Pungo River Formation exposed in the Nottoway River, Virginia. These Chubutensis teeth exhibit high quality preservation and can be very colorful. A little "river polish" adds to the attractiveness of these Chubutensis teeth.
