The region around Khouribga, Morocco is known as the phosphate plateau. The phosphate mines have exposed a wealth of marine fossils dating from the Cretaceous to Eocene ages (110-35 million years ago). Shark teeth from this location are a creamy white to butterscotch colored and exhibit great preservation. The local people use very crude methods to extract these fossil teeth. Thus, the secret to securing the highest quality teeth is to painstakingly sort through large volumes of material to select the very best fossil shark teeth for you.
