Carcharhinus plumbeus (Sandbar shark)

The Carcharhinus plumbeus, the Sandbar shark, is a species of requiem shark from the Carcharhinidae family, and is found in the Atlantic Ocean and the Indo-Pacific oceans. Females reach lengths of 8 feet. It is one of the bigger coastal sharks in the world, and is closely related to the dusky shark, the bignose shark, and the bull shark. The Sandbar shark feeds on fish, rays and crabs.

This collection represents a rare and very unusual collection of Miocene fossil shark teeth from the island of Sumatra, Indonesia. Few collectors have these teeth and even fewer have had the opportunity to collect this site as I did!
