C. chubutensis is an early form of C. megalodon (early - middle Miocene, Pungo River Formation) which exhibits the development of small side cusps. These are rare teeth from the copper red site in No. Carolina. You do not see many of this early Megalodon species available! Please note that No. Carolina produces C. megalodon and C. chubutensis teeth that are among the highest quality available, and exceptional specimens are exceedingly difficult to locate. The "Bumble Bee" tooth with incredible rare yellow and black colors! A January 2020 Fossil of the Month. Highest quality enamel. No enamel peel. The bourlette is composed of the lower dentin layer. The serrations are sharp and 100% complete with an excellent tip serration. Excellent side cusps.
