A LARGE, Top Quality Baena hatcheri - Baenidae Turtle shell, a Baenidae turtle, from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. A May Fossil of the Month. Baenidae were freshwater aquatic turtles that lived amongst the dinosaurs and are found in the Hell Creek formation. This shell has incredible surface quality with excellent color and patinaThis shell is 100% complete (both the carapace & plastron), fully inflated, and nicely articulated. The right side has some compression, but it is complete. No repair or restoration. Minor crack fill. Legally collected on private land in the Hell Creek Fm., Powder River Co., Montana.
