A rare LARGE, TOP QUALITY Megalonyx jeffersonii sloth claw from an extinct genus of giant ground sloths from Georgia. A February Fossil of the Month.  This sloth claw has excellent preservation, and is 100% complete with no damage. Great black bone color and texture with a highly articulated natural bone surface. Excellent preservation of the proximal end. There is no restoration or repair. Authenticity guaranteed. A fantastic Pleistocene giant ground sloth claw specimen!  Comes a custom burl wood stand as pictured.

Megalonyx jeffersonii sloths are an extinct genus of giant ground sloths of the family Megalonychidae endemic to North America from the Late Miocene through the Pleistocene. Existed from ~10.3 Mya—11,000 years ago. Thus, living for approximately 10.3 million years.  Megalonyx measured about 10 feet and weighted up to 1 ton.
