An ultra rare, Top Quality Torvosaurus gurneyi tooth from the Jurassic (Kimmeridgian) of Portugal. A March Fossil of the Month. This completeTorvosaurus crown measures 2". The enamel is highest quality. Excellent black color. Excellent extra large posterior and anterior serrations. Note - the anterior carina end about 2/3 of the way down from the tip. The diagnostic for a Torvosaurus tooth. Excellent overall enamel condition. A small tip repair. No restoration. Torvosaurus was a large predator during the late Jurassic with large teeth designed to slash predators. Collected in the Lourinha Fm., Port Dinheiro, Lourinha, Portugal . Authenticity guaranteed.  A very difficult species to find. This specimen weighs 2 lbs. A supplemental shipping fee will be required for international orders.

Torvosaurus tanneri or "savage lizard" was the large predator of the late Jurassic period. This monster reached lengths of approximately 30 feet and reached weights approaching 8000 pounds. Their teeth were serrated and were used to dine on Stegosaurus, Diplodicus, etc. A must have item for dinosaur collectors. Fossil remains in teeth, bones, and claws. All of which are very rare and extremely difficult to locate. These top quality specimens were all legally collected from private lands in the northwestern US. Late Cretaceous, Morrison Fm., 155-145 MYA. Authenticity guaranteed.
