The May 2015 Fossil of the Month. My BEST GEM, EXTRA LARGE Megalodon PRINCIPAL ANTERIOR upper jaw tooth from the Ashapoo River, So. Carolina. A "PICTURE" Meg with a gorgeous light brown ("Ashapoo") crown with charcoal colored "clouds". Highest quality enamel. The medium brown bourlette is incredible, very glossy, nearly complete, and very showy. The serrations are incredibly large and sharp with an excellent tip serration, and 100% complete - perfect! Incredible serrations for a big Meg - among the finest (see the close photos)! The root is complete, nicely articulated, few hydration cracks and a gorgeous chocolate brown color. Excellent symmetry. A Top Quality Eurypterus lacustris, the "Sea Scorpion", from Buffalo, New York. A November Fossil of the Month. This is a spooky looking arthropod that are related to arachnids, such as, the Horseshoe crab. It was found in the Williamsville Fm., Bertie Group of western New York and it is Silurian age (430 mya). A complete specimen that is nicely displayed on shale matirx. A HIGH QUALITY Megalodon - upper jaw tooth from West Java, Indonesia. This Megalodon has an excellent tan colored crown with red & gold colored bourlette. High quality enamel. Excellent color! An ultra rare, Quality lower jaw lateral Hexanchus tooth - the Sixgill Cow shark, from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. This tooth has a rich blue & tan crown with a tan root. Nine main cusps (one damaged). Please note that this tooth broke in two and was neatly put back together.  Incredible color and preservation. These are Pliocene age, Yorktown Formation teeth. A High Quality Pachychephalosaurus wyomingensis tooth from the late Cretaceous of northern North America. Pachychephalosaurus is the dinosaur which is famous for its large domed head surrounded by spikes. The enamel is good quality with nice color / patina. Typical wear faucet from grinding on opposing teeth. Note - high center ridge and crown assymetry (see Pachy maxillary teeth differentiation discussion below).
