A Top Quality Alethopteris sp. - fossil fern display piece from St. Clair, Pennsylvania. A December Fossil of the Month. Alethopteris is an extinct genus of primitive seed fern that evolved during the Pennsylvanian Period. This specimen is well preserved with white colored ferns on a near black colored shale matrix. This white coating is a characteristic of the mineral pyrophyllite. The St. Clair area is known for their white ferns on black matrix. Pennsylvanian age. (300 mya). It weighs 16.8 pounds. An ultra rare Top Quality, Allosaurus fragilis finger III (including the manus claw and two non-associated digits). A February Fossil of the Month. This Allosaurus finger III measures 6". The manus claw measures 2-15/16" with exceptional bone quality. Rich black-brown color. Excellent overall condition. The tip was repaired. Both hand bones are complete with no rapair. A rare Mako shark tooth from Sumatra, Indonesia. These teeth appear to be juvenile Isurus desori teeth (narrow crown) and are scarce in the Sumatran deposit. They were deposited in the Telisa formation - a shallow marine environment during the middle Miocene (approx. 15 million years ago.) A very unique collector's tooth. D051 is the upper jaw tooth on the left. Authenticity guaranteed.
