An EXTRA LARGE ultra rare, Top Quality Red Site Otodus megalodon tooth from the Meherrin River, North Carolina. An August Fossil of the Month. This Megalodon is a BIG upper jaw anterior tooth from the Meherrin River copper-red site. Exceptional rich copper red color. The enamel is the highest quality, and there is a cool bite mark on the display side (see the 5th photo). The serrations are large, razor sharp, and essentially complete with a good tip serration. Bourlette is extra large and brown - dentin layer. The root is wide & complete. A Pliocene Meg tooth. Note - the front center strip of enamel was professionally restored (high point of the tooth only). An old collection piece from the rarest location to find a top quality Megalodon tooth - rarer than Lee Creek, Peru, Bone Valley, etc. Authenticity guaranteed. A well preserved, rare Scyphocrinites elegans crinoid holdfast from Morocco. The crinoid stem attached to these floating holdfasts. The Scyphocrinites crinoids were floating crinoids and their holdfast was actually an air bladder that supported multiple stems and calyx. This holdfast is bulbous with a fantastic detail. A peg stand is included as in the photos. These crinoid holdfasts make excellent fantastic display pieces. An EXTRA LARGE, incredibly preserved Woolly Mammoth (Mammuthus primigenius), an early elephant, molar found in Yatuksk, Siberia. A December Fossil of the Month. A Top Quality Alethopteris sp. - fossil fern display piece from St. Clair, Pennsylvania. A December Fossil of the Month. Alethopteris is an extinct genus of primitive seed fern that evolved during the Pennsylvanian Period. This specimen is well preserved with white colored ferns on a near black colored shale matrix. This white coating is a characteristic of the mineral pyrophyllite. The St. Clair area is known for their white ferns on black matrix. Pennsylvanian age. (300 mya). It weighs 16.8 pounds.
