A very rare Parotodus benedeni tooth from the Lee Creek mine, Aurora, No. Carolina. Lateral tooth from a reworked layer. The crown has minor wear with small tip damage. The root is ~9/16" thick and shows typical hydration cracks. This Parotodus tooth was found in the Yorktown Formation (Pliocene age). No repair or restoration. A very special, rare collector's tooth. A TOP QUALITY Megalonyx leptostomus sloth claw from an extinct genus of giant ground sloths and our December 2017 Fossil of the Month. This claw has excellent preservation and shows little water wear. It's complete down to a nice tip with absolutely no restoration or repair. Excellent preservation of the proximal end.
