Our July FOTM week 2 offering - an ULTRA RARE, EXTRA LARGE copper red colored Chubutensis tooth - an upper jaw anterior position. A monster sized 3-3/4" Chubutensis tooth. Rare copper red colors with rich reds and red-brown colors. The bourlette is very good. The serrations are sharp with a worn tip. Excellent color! Incredible size and excellent overall condition. A Top Quality Carcharodon hastalis, Broad-tooth "Mako", shark tooth - upper jaw anterior tooth from the "De Kuilen" sand pit, Mill, The Netherlands. This is a "Blue" layer tooth which are know for the highest preservation and best color - rarely seen outside of Europe. This tooth has excellent color and preservation. Sharp cutting edge. Two side cusplets. The age is late Miocene (approx. 6-8 million years ago). This species is the ancestor to the Great White shark and Carcharomodus escheri.. An excellent collector's tooth. An exceptional Aetomylaeus sp., an Eagle ray, mouth plate from Caldera area of Chile. An excellent plate of pavement teeth from the lower jaw. The specimen resides on its original phosphorite matrix. This plate has exceptional preservation, fantastic dark red colors, and exceptionally clean. Note - the bottom side of this specimen is covered with matrix. A GORGEOUS, "Bumble Bee" Chubutensis tooth - an upper jaw anterior tooth from the Meherrin River red site in northeastern No. Carolina. The "Bumble Bee" tooth with incredible rare yellow and black colors! A January 2020 Fossil of the Month. Highest quality enamel. No enamel peel. The bourlette is composed of the lower dentin layer. The serrations are sharp and 100% complete with an excellent tip serration. Excellent side cusps. An Ultra Rare, Extra Large Pappocetus lugardi (Andrews, 1920) incisor tooth from Morocco. This material is a new find and represents one of the earliest transition forms of the whale. Pappocetus is a protocetid (see discussion below) and a large amphibious aquatic carnivore. Pappocetus is also an ancestor of the Basilosaurus. This material is complete and without repair. Crack fill only on some pieces. This is an opportunity to own an incredibly rare specimen from an early evolutionary stage of the modern whale. Perfect tooth. A fantastic collector's specimen.
